Special interest

Her medical interests include cataract surgery, retinal diseases such as age-related macular degeneration and diabetic retinopathy, ocular inflammatory conditions, pterygium treatment, and minor lid surgery. She works across both public and private practice, consulting at Harbour Eye Specialists and operating at Bowen Hospital and Southern Cross Wellington Hospital, with fellowship training in medical retina and inflammatory eye disease at Bristol and Moorfields Eye Hospitals in the UK.

Dr Long graduated MBChB from the University of Otago in 1990, became a Fellow of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Ophthalmologists (FRANZCO) in 2004, and completed subspecialty fellowship training in medical retina and ocular inflammatory disease at Bristol and Moorfields Eye Hospitals in the UK between 2003 and 2005.
