Education and training

Dr Smallcombe graduated with Honours in Medicine from the University of Queensland in 1999 and completed a Bachelor of Science in 2004. She undertook specialist ophthalmology training through the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Ophthalmologists (RANZCO), where she was awarded the prestigious K.G. Howsam Medal for academic excellence. She later completed a fellowship with Professor Lawrie Hirst, a world leader in pterygium surgery, and is currently studying a Masters of Cataract and Refractive Surgery at the University of Sydney.
