Special interest

His medical interests include vitreoretinal surgery, medical retina, cataract surgery, and general ophthalmology. He has subspecialty expertise in managing complex retinal diseases such as age-related macular degeneration and diabetic retinopathy, and offers state-of-the-art diagnostic imaging and intravitreal therapies. Dr Small also performs minor eyelid surgery, laser procedures including trabeculoplasty and iridotomy, and advanced cataract surgery with modern lens implantation techniques.

Dr Small graduated MB ChB from the University of Otago in 1988, became a Fellow of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Ophthalmologists (FRANZCO) in 1996, and has extensive subspecialty training in vitreoretinal disease. He consults at The Terrace Eye Centre and operates at Southern Cross Wellington Hospital and Bowen Hospital.
