Dr Peter Ring is an Ophthalmologist and Ophthalmic Surgeon at Eye Institute, 123 Remuera Road, Remuera 1050, where he provides advanced surgical and medical eye care; patients are encouraged to share their experiences and write a review to help others make informed choices.

Special interest

His medical interests include laser vision correction, cataract surgery, corneal and refractive surgery, and oculoplastic procedures. Dr Ring was part of the pioneering team that introduced laser eye surgery to New Zealand and has been at the forefront of modern multifocal lens technology. He also has expertise in managing complex corneal conditions and continues to contribute to the advancement of refractive surgery techniques while teaching internationally.

Dr Ring graduated MB ChB from the University of Otago in 1970, obtained a Diploma in Ophthalmology from the Royal College of Physicians London and Royal College of Surgeons England in 1973, and earned FRCS Eng in 1977, FRANZCO in 1980, and FCOphth in 1990. He has served as President of the Ophthalmological Society of New Zealand, Examiner for the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Ophthalmologists, and Honorary Clinical Senior Lecturer at the University of Auckland.
