Dr Vivek Chowdhury is an Ophthalmologist at Central Coast Eye Specialists, 2 Ilya Avenue, Erina NSW 2250, where he is recognized for his expertise in cataract, corneal, and refractive surgery; patients are encouraged to share their experiences and write a review to help others seeking trusted eye care.

Special interest

His medical interests include cataract surgery, corneal transplantation, refractive laser procedures such as LASIK and PRK, pterygium surgery, dry eye management, macular disease, glaucoma, and diabetic retinopathy. Dr Chowdhury has also conducted groundbreaking research into the development of a Bionic Eye for blind patients during his PhD studies, and he completed advanced fellowship training in corneal and refractive surgery at Moorfields Eye Hospital in London, one of the world’s leading ophthalmic institutions.

Dr Chowdhury graduated MBBS with First Class Honours from the University of Sydney, earned a PhD in Bionic Eye technology from the University of New South Wales, and was a visiting fellow at Harvard Medical School. He trained in ophthalmic surgery at Prince of Wales Hospital and Sydney Children’s Hospital, receiving the Filipic Greer Medal during training, and later became a Fellow of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Ophthalmologists (FRANZCO).
